And Christmas Just Keeps on Coming!

WMS Christmas Card Challenge Logo_2013

Hello crafty people. I bet you probably thought you had seen the last Christmas card of the season, right? Au contraire, mon amie! It’s only the beginning of the 2013 Christmas Card season. Yes it’s true that it hasn’t been that long since we packed up the tree, and truth be known, the lights hanging on the porch as yet to be put away, but that doesn’t mean that I’ve forgotten about Christmas. It’s time for the Waltzingmouse Stamps Christmas Card Challenge for January 2013.

This year the WMS Christmas Card challenges has many hostesses, and this month our hostess is Anya Schrier who has challenged us with a sketch challenge. Here is the sketch she provided (along with this adorable updated WMSCCC logo – cute, eh?)

WMSCCC-01-2013 Sketch

I went with a totally off-the-beaten-path color scheme, and used cream, lavender and raspberry pink. Totally NOT what you would expect from a Christmas card.

After spending oodles and gobs on postage this past December on postage of bulky Christmas cards, I thought I would try to keep the lumpy stuff to a minimum this year, so there are no bumps on this card, just layers and dimension.

January-Full-Angle

I began with my ivory card base and layered the lavender, which I stamped snowflakes – because they seem like a “peaceful” image to me – from the Seasons of Love set using Vintage Cream ink.

Then I stamped my ornament from the Ornate Ornaments set on Raspberry Fizz cardstock using Raspberry Fizz ink The sentiment is from the Say it Loud Winter Holiday set and was stamped using Lavender Lace pigment ink and embossed with clear embossing powder to give it dimension and shine.

To give my ornament a bit more sparkle and pizazz, I outlined the straight lines with a Sakura Stardust glitter pen. The photographs don’t do the silvery sparkle justice, and my camera seems to want to make it look more on the warm-toned side, but it’s very silver in real life.

You are invited to join us in our quest to get those cards done before the holiday rush. You can get all the details right here.

So with my Christmas cards for January created, I can leave tomorrow for CHA with the knowledge that I’ll find lots of inspiration for 2013 in the next few days.

Thanks for looking in, and A BIG THANK YOU to Anya for hosting this month’s challenge.

Such a fun idea to start the cards early for next year..Truth be told, my tree is still up and coming down tomorrow. Too much running on weekends to handle it. Love your card. The color combo is such a fun one and that ornament is so pretty. Safe travels to and from CHA..I can't wait to hear about it..Must be so exciting.
