Color Throwdown–More birthdays, yes please!

Hi – and welcome to Wednesday. Welcome to another Color Throwdown Challenge as I continue my guest spot on the Color Throwdown Team.

Today we are working with some of my very favorite color combinations. If you follow me on Pinterest, you know that I have a great fondness for the color turquoise. LOVE it – can’t get enough of it, and when I saw the inspiration colors for this week, I had a hard time containing my excitement. See for yourself.

My card today is another birthday card. The last three months of the year are jammed packed with birthdays, so I had better get busy. This card happens to be for my husband who has a birthday in a couple of weeks. He doesn’t read my blog, so I’m safe in posting it here and ruining the element of surprise.

Starting with a base of Cool Caribbean, I layered a panel of Suede Brown Medium before I stamped three chevron images in Coffee Bean Ink. This stamp came in my Studio Calico Kit (Sock Hop) which was designed for them by Hero Arts.

I love circles and odd geometric shapes so that is why I used so many of them on my card. Circles evoke a feeling of fun and the up and down lines of the punched zig zag border and chevron images remind me of the ups and downs of life – all happening around that circle. I’ll try not to get all philosophical on y’all – circle of life and all that jazz.

Anywho, I punched a piece of patterned paper, and layered some circles on it that were stamped with images from Waltzingmouse Stamps and a set by Ali Edwards, called Adored.  And since this IS a card for the man I love, I had to add a little glittery heart so show I care. HA!

You are encouraged to play along. Just create a paper craft project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD218. Be sure to check out what the other design team members have created for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge!
