Hi and welcome to my blog. Today I have another creation for this week’s Color Throwdown challenge. We were given this mouth watering color combination – isn’t is delicious?
Since Thanksgiving is tomorrow, the Christmas holidays will be upon us. This week I created a Christmas card using the colors assigned, or a close proximity since I didn’t have all the colors listed in our inspiration photo.
I began with a base of white and layered panels of Kiwi Kiss and Basic Gray. Upon that I took a piece of Tempting Turquoise and laid my stencil on it sponging Tempting Turquoise ink, creating my background.
Upon the background I layered several ribbon banners in the various colors with the largest two topped with cardstock punched with the Threading Water Border Punch. I topped them off with pearls and metal flat brads.
To accent my holiday card, I added a felt tree that I cut from some wool felt and added dots of white enamel and topped it with a veneer star. The small letter stickers were added from the Lily Bee Designs’ ABC Stickers.
To finish off my ribbon banners, I added faux stitching in coordinating markers, but since I didn’t have a gray marker that matched the cardstock, I used my Versamark pen to add the dots on the gray banner. This pen works awesome when you don’t have a specific colored marker because it takes on the color of what you are using it on.
I would love it if you could be inclined to play along. Just create a paper craft project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine, as I have done. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD219. Be sure to check out what the other design team members have created for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge!
