For those who have never attended the Craft and Hobby Association (CHA-pronounced C-H-A, not CHA, as in cha, cha, cha), let me tell you that walking the trade show floor is always an adventure! It’s so exciting to be among thousands of like-minded crafters, all in three huge showrooms, with booths stuffed full of new products. The excitement can be seen on the faces of everyone as they rush in as soon as the doors open, dragging their wheeled carts and bags in tow.
Walking the CHA floor, we all were drawn to certain products and projects. The topic of discussion, when we take a moment to get off our tired feet, naturally flow to emerging trends we have spotted while cruising the isles. That's what today's challenge is all about.
I wish that everyone could attend CHA and feel the excitement we share while we are there. But since that isn’t the case, those of us who do attend share photos and our thoughts about the show with you; like in these posts by Susanna Boyd, owner of Paper Craft Planet and several posts from Cath Edvalson’s MoxieFab!
From the very beginning, the i {heart} papers team has had strong ties to Paper Craft Planet. Our mutual love of paper and paper-crafting is the foundation for our friendship, and CHA has given us the opportunity to meet many of these fellow-crafters face-to-face; translating those online friendships into real life bonds.
The I {heart} papers team and the Paper Craft Planet Super Novas are teaming up today to bring you creations highlighting some of those trends we spotting at the most recent CHA, held this past month in Anaheim, California. Perhaps as you visit the blogs (listed below), you can spot the same trends we did.
The project I created focuses on the “banner-pennant” trend that has been around a while, but is still going strong as apparent from so many wonderful projects displayed at CHA.
I created a card/gift set for a someone who is very important in my life, because what says “friendship” better than a card coupled with chocolate? =) I started with a white card base and layered on patterned paper from the Paper Heart Collection by Crate Paper. I had the pink and white die cuts lying around from another project and thought they would made a great base for my trendy….wait for it….pennants.
I stamped a white piece of cardstock using Very Square stamp set and die cut them using my Lacey Pendants dies – then highlighted the intersections with White Opal Liquid Pearls. The pendants were glued to a piece of baker’s twine.
My little paint can carries along the pennant theme and the same color patterns. The M&Ms in the foreground were sacrificed because I couldn’t give away M&Ms that had been handled, right?????
The sentiment is from the Very Square Sentiments set. I layered it onto more spare parts from that other project I mentioned, and adorned with paper flowers, brads and bits of bling.
I hope you will take a moment and visit some of these wonderfully creative blogs and see what trends YOU can spot.

Banners and pennants are wonderful. I'm glad that others like them, too, so companies focus on them. Nice job that you did, too.
Hope those are for me! This is awesome! That can and the coordinating card are just amazing! What a fab way to showcase a little something special!
Great job. Pennants, banner, AND 3D dot effect.

This is a fabulous project Lynn, what better way to appreciate a good friend with a handmade card, and some yummy chocs? Love the cherry red banners, and the patterned paper, and it's so great that you got to use up some bits left over from another project, that's one of my aims this year, to use what I have!
Cute set, I love the colors!
