Waltzingmouse Stamps Release Day–DT Blog Waltz

Hi all.  I’m so glad you stopped by today because the Waltzingmouse Stamps Design Team has a treat for you today, as Waltzingmouse Stamps releases six new sets; Seasonal Remedies, Nordic Winter, 2011 Holiday Ornaments, Santa's Coming to Town, Candy Jar Christmas and Candy Jar Christmas Fillers.  Today as the Design Team begins its Blog Waltz, we will focus our attention on the last two of the six sets; Candy Jar Christmas and Candy Jar Christmas Fillers.

If you landed here from Kelly’s blog, then you are right on track.  If you are just beginning the Waltz here, be sure to begin at Claire’s blog where she has a complete Blog Waltz list.

I have two projects (three if you count the different elements), but let me begin with the first project which is a little gift set.  I saw this idea for the candy jar/candle in last month's issue of Craft and Things.  It just so happened that I had all the necessary parts and didn't have to go out and buy anything!  SCORE!

Candy-Jar-Christmas-candlea

I created this adorable little tag by first die cutting it with my go-to small tag Sizzix die, cutting it in white and then stamped my images onto the tag.  I added an eyelet and tied it to my jar using some raffia.  With the addition of two types of ribbon added using Scor-Tape, and filling it with peppermints, placed the votive candle in the top cup and it was finished.

For the matching card I began with a red card base and because I knew I wanted to use this mini kraft bag, I added a layer of kraft to the base to tie it all together.   I added a bit of texture to the white base by embossing it with the Snowflake Embossabilities template before I added a strip of patterned paper and a die cut red snowflake - you won't see THAT in nature, but it looks cool on this card.  HA!

Candy-Jar-Christmas-Cards

I stamped the candy jar image and colored and shaded the candies using Copic Markers before trimming it out and adding it to the mini bag.

I then used another tag from the same Sizzix Die to create the little tag that fits into the kraft bag, leaving a little space for a fun surprise of an added note.

Candy-Jar-tag

My last little project is more sweet treats using the Candy Jar Christmas Fillers set.  I started with a clear plastic tube and I filled it with Hersey HUGS.  I created my mittens by die cutting two sets of wool felt which I stitched together with my little Sew Mini machine by Janome.  Then using some old t-shirt fabric (because I couldn't find my pillow batting) I  filled the mittens to give them some "puff".  I then took a piece of craft wire and measured around the tube, running the ends one into each mitten and securing it with Zip Dry glue. The wire allowed me to wrap (or hug, if you will) around the tube. I added a little white wooly trim that I have had for decades (I kid you not) to the mitten tops and the brim of the hat and a little puff ball for the end of the hat.

Candy-Jar-Filler-Hugs

The sentiment, Holiday Hugs worked out perfectly for one of the mittens and plays off the HUGS candy inside.

Candy-Jar-Filler-mittens

To finish my little treat, I stamped the little label and attached it to the tube using Scor-Tape and with the same tape, added a touch of holiday ribbon to the bottom.

I hope you have been working your way along the Blog Waltz and leaving comments along the way.  Next on your Waltz is the creative blog of Jennifer Holmes.  Be sure to stop by and comment because it could earn you a free set from Waltzingmouse Stamps.

You have until October 17th to comment on as many of the Design Team blogs as possible because a winner will be selected at that time from one of the Design Team members’ blogs to win a Waltzingmouse Stamp set of choice.  The winner will be announced on October 18th on Claire’s blog.

My deepest appreciation for looking in.  Until next time, stay crafty!

Lynn, is that big red snowflake a result of pent up frustration from not being able to use red in the October WMS Christmas Card Challenge? LOL! Such a fun, cheery card though. Well done!
