Susanna’s Birthday–Pop the Cork and Grab a Glass!

Today, October 22nd, we, the Paper Craft Planet Super Novas, are celebrating Susanna's Boyd's birthday with a week-long challenge event that we hope every member on the Planet will participate in!  SURPRISE, Susanna!

The Super Novas got together and we each made a special birthday gift for Susanna's birthday.  In honor of this momentous occasion, we invite everyone to post a birthday project or card for a chance to win some fabulous prizes! Yes, there are several chances to win some awesome paper crafting goodies just by posting a birthday themed project!

You will have one week to complete any birthday themed project, load it into the PCP gallery, and leave a comment with a link to their project.

Further details can be found by clicking on The Planet Blog.  Check out where the party is and join us for a week of celebration!

If you know Susanna, you are aware of her fondness for wine,so my project today plays on that knowledge.  Using a template created by fellow Super Nova, Adela Rossol, I created a little gift box just right to add a gift card, a candy tube, or anything small enough to tuck inside.

Using some great older scrapbook paper from Club Scrap (so old, I don’t remember what it’s called) and cut the template out using my Silhouette.  Adela’s template contained a PDF, SVG and file types that the Silhouette uses.  After cutting the pieces I put it all together using Scor Tape to hold the edges into place.  I find that for boxes or anything that is folded and adhered, Scor Tape is just the right amount of sticky to do the job.

I die cut a label from Spellbinder’s Labels 22 from the same cardstock (except this was the back side, which was the same red, but no pattern).  I trimmed out a piece of cork paper to show just a small edge around the outside of the label.  I stamped this cute wine-drinking chick (which looks just like Susanna), onto white cardstock, colored her with Copic Markers and then trimmer her out – attaching her using Foam Dimensional adhesive.  This image is several years old, made by Inky Antics.

With a few embellishments of buttons, die cuts and loopy trim, I finished the label and attached it to the front of the “wine box”.

My sentiment is a fun one that goes so well with this image.  It’s by River City Rubber Works and is one of the few wood mounted stamps that I still love and use.  This sentiments SO speaks to me, and I’m sure Susanna will “get it” too!

To top off this cardstock wine bottle 3D project, I cut out a little piece of cork – the same cork I used to mat the label - and attached it to the top of the bottle.  I then die cut a little embossed tag, topped it off with a chipboard star embellished with glitter and red Stickles – because Susanna is the shinning STAR of Paper Craft Planet, around which we orbit (LOL), and added a special Happy Birthday sentiment.

I hope you enjoyed my project.  I had a great time putting it together.  Please take a moment to wish Susanna a very happy birthday by creating a birthday project for her as well.  It could mean a prize just for YOU!

Have a wonderful Saturday, and until next time – CHEERS!
