WMS March 2011 Preview–Day 3

Hi and welcome to day 3 of the Waltzingmouse Stamps March release preview.  I hope you have been enjoying them so far.  I know I have – I’m always blown away by the creativity of Claire’s Design Team (and I don’t say that because I’m on her team, but because it’s TRUE).

Tomorrow is the big day – RELEASE Day!  I hope you are ready!

I learned a lot from creating this project and one revelation that came to me is that it’s really difficult to photograph a large banner.  HA!  I can’t tell you how many photographs I took of this Welcome Baby Banner and I still feel like I’m lacking the views I wanted to share with you that I can see in real life.

This banner was created using a new Nestabilities Friendly set that Claire has designed to coordinate with their Nested Pennants and their Nested Lacey Pennants.  I haven’t seen any of these in the stores yet, but they are due to be shipping any day now, and I can’t wait.  In the meantime, I didn’t have any problem creating this double layered banner.

I stamped one of the many banner images in this set in three different colors onto cream colored cardstock, cut them out and attached them onto coordinating cardstock in three colors.  I used a border punch to create a little topper for each piece.  Then I adhered a chipboard frame before attaching a circle that would hold the letters that I die cut using one of my Cricut cartridges.

I attached each pennant piece to some grosgrain ribbon using mini clothes pins and finished off the end by looping the ribbon and tying it off with other ribbons and topping that all off with a bow enhanced with a button.

Between the pennant pieces, I attached some tulle and added some Prima flowers for a little extra something.  You may notice a little button attached to each chipboard frame, and coordinating buttons attached the the mini clothes pins.

I also created a coordinating card using another new set from Claire, called Bitty Banners.  The Bitty Banners set has a variety of triangular, flag and bunting type banners so no matter that occasion you are crafting for, you’ll have just the right design at your fingertips.

I created the polka cardstock by using the polka dog banner from this set and stamped it onto cardstock and then used my punch to create the eyelet border as well as the polka dot strip along the top.

My last project uses the rounded bunting banners for a border trim and the pennant banners hung with bakers twine with beads separating each flat.  I used patterned paper for my background with some added stars, also from the set, stamped in coordinating ink.

Here is a closer look at those beads which are kept in place by tying a know on both sides of the beads.

So if you are ready for even more inspirations, be sure to check out the rest of the design team who are sure to have some wonderful ideas using the Vintage Banner AND the Bitty Banner sets.
