Blossom & Bauble Birthday

Hey there, all you crafty people.  I hope you are all find this wonderfully winter’s day.  Yesterday was touch and go here in St. Louis; icy streets, threats of snow and power outages.  With the unknown elements about to descent on us, my thoughts are focused towards spring.  Since springs is several weeks away, I’m afraid that all I have is anticipation of warmer days to some and some flowers that are on my projects.

SEI-Birthday

My project today is a birthday card since I have so many birthdays to celebrate in the next few months, I don’t want to run short on my supply.  The inspiration for this card came from a card I received long ago from Claire Brennan.   I grabbed some Prismatics cardstock and created a base and then added a background of patterned paper from SEI’s Claire’s 6 X 6 paper pack available at I {Heart} Papers.

I die cut another piece from this paper pack using my Grand Labels 4 die and trimmed off a bit from one side.  I love the look of the threaded ribbon that Claire included on her card, that I wanted to try the technique for myself. Using a ruler, I marked off every 1/4” on the back side of the paper using a pencil, and with a craft knife, I cut slits where the marks were made. These acted as guides through which I threaded my Faux Suede Ruffled Ribbon  finishing it off by tying a bow and adding a couple of Zva Creative Flowers.

SEI-BirthdayCU

I also used my Spellbinders Labels 1 die to create the piece I stamped my greeting on.  To further highlight the sentiment I added a few Zva Creative pearls on either end of the die cut.

At the time of this post writing, I’m unsure if the roads will be clear and safely passible to allow me to go to work, but either way, I hope that you stay safe and I wish you a day of blossoms and baubles today and always!

Lynn, this is beautiful. Love the woven ribbon - what a great idea! We are iced in! Trees are beginning to bend over, beginning to worry about power lines, but so far so good! Hang in there - hope you do okay!

I hope you stayed home today, even though the sleet hasn't turned into snow. It's not over yet!
