Let’s Begin Again

Hey there crafty people.  Wow…it seems like forever since I posted anything crafty on my blog.  Truth be known, I haven’t been very crafty since I went on what I call Christmas break. (vacation + holidays).  I have truly enjoyed the down time.  Reading, watching movies, blog hopping, spending time with family are all things I love to do, but don’t always have time to do them and keep up with other crafty commitments, which I also love, but there are only so many hours in the day.  If it weren’t for those pesky hours I have to sleep, I’d get so much more done!

I believe that a break every now and then is a good thing.  It relaxes me and renews my creativity, which I left was lacking right before Christmas.  Maybe the holiday stresses were zapping my mojo; maybe I was just getting lazy – whatever it was, I’m happy to be back into a somewhat “normal” routine.

After getting my package from i{heart}papers yesterday that contained some great patterned paper from Echo Park, I got right to it as soon as I got home from work and came up with this sweet card, inspired by Julee Tilman’s Mojo Monday sketch. I love Julee’s sketches and it has been way too long since I’ve played in one of her challenges.

With a base of white, a layer of black and Passionate Pink, I layered on patterned paper from the Be Mine Collection.  I was so happy to see some wonderful designs and colors perfect for that “sweet day” or even an anniversary.  I stamped the branch twice and then paper pieced the hearts.  I stamped those cute owls using gray ink and then before stamping took my black Memento marker and added black around the edges before stamping the image onto white.  A little fussy cutting around the images and voila.

This Echo Park collection contains some great stickers.  On the front of the card I added three heart sticks and two ticket sticker images were added to the interior of the card leaving plenty of room for a personal love note.

That’s it for today…having sorority at my house tonight, so I will have a house full this evening.  After tonight, I hope to REALLY get back to a normal routine…no more entertaining for me for a while.  I guess that means I can let the dust re-accumulate.  HA!

Have a great day!

Hello Lynn,

What a fun and happy project! Those owls are just so cute, love them! And can you just paint on the stamp with the memento markers? Are they like ink in markers? I thought they were like Copics. Love your card!

Hugs & a wonderful 2011 to you!

Yes, Wendy. My Memento markers are the same as the ink pads, but in marker form. Memento inks are water based, and that makes them a great ink to use WITH Copics. Thanks for your comment!
