Birthdays and Butterflies

Hey there crafty people.  I hope you are enjoying your weekend so far.  I have lots of catching up to do as far as birthday cards go.  I have several special birthday wishes to send out in January, and participating in today’s Waltzingmouse Stamps seemed like the perfect opportunity to knock off one of those cards. from my MUST HAVE list.

The Waltzingmouse Stamps Sketch Challenge Blog has been on a bit of a holiday hiatus and now that we are finished with the winter holidays, it’s time to get back in the swing of things.  To get all the details about how you can participate in this week’s challenge just check out the challenge blog.

Here is the sketch for this week:

WMSC29

And here is my take on the sketch.  I chose to make a long card that measures 4-1/4” X 8.5 which will fit into a legal sized envelope.  I started with a base of this lovely burgundy red cardstock folded.  From there I used an oval Nestabilities die and created the opening in the center of the ivory cardstock.  I added a piece of patterned paper to the lower half of the oval and topped it with my sentiment.

I created a pattern on the lower portion of my card front using Pic-Nic Patterns and finishing off the top with some crinkle ribbon topped with a bit of ivory lace.

I’m already looking forward to the return of butterflies, so I added a few to my card adorned with buttons and bling.  Butterflies and bling make me happy.

I hope that you are inspired by today’s sketch.  While we are always happy when you use Waltzingmouse Stamps images, it is not mandatory that you use WMS to participate in the sketch challenge.  If you upload your projects to any galleries or forums, please use WMSC29 as the keyword so we can find them and show your projects some love.

Thanks for taking a little time from your weekend to stop in today.  Your visits mean so much to me, as do all the lovely comments.  Enjoy you day!

Lovely card, love the white and warm red and what a tall one this is, looks great! The oval shape this way works really well, I like it a lot!
