A “Labor of Love”

Happy Labor Day to all of my American countrymen (and women!).  There are many countries that celebrate a form of Labor Day, but for us in the US – today is the day.  I hope that you are having a wonderful weekend as we celebrate this symbolic end of summer. *sniff*  I am celebrating by having a day off from work; having the day free to see where it will takes me.

I would like to share an 8 X 8” layout I’ve wanted to do for a long time.  You might call it a labor of love, considering that it is Labor day, although it doesn’t seem like labor when you are having so much fun doing it, right?  This layout contains the story of the time when my daughter and I traveled by train from Kansas to California back in the mid 1990s.   Ticket-to-Ride-wWM

I adhered a Zva Creative flourish along the top left corner and colored three cut out flowers (from some patterned paper I used) with my Copic marker and added a single pearl to each center.

A while back I purchased the hard-to-find Ticketed stamp set from Stampology.  I stamping them in red which brought out the red in the seats from the photo. I tucked them behind my title panel that I created from a scrap piece of scrapbook paper.  I used a ticket corner punch and then drew a line around the edges before I adhered two different types of alphabets.

I had written a two page story of the trip that was way too big to include on the front, so I created a pocket for the page by cutting out two flourishes from some leftover scrapbook paper.  Once I adhered the two pieces along the bottom and sides, I slipped a piece of acetate inside, creating a see-through pocket to hold my ramblings.

Thanks for taking a few minutes from your day to check out what I have posted today.  I hope you have a wonderful day, whether it is the Labor Day holiday for you, or just another Monday.  Make it a good one!

Lynn, this is so awesome! I love all the details you put into your cards and layouts. The flourish is perfect, especially with the flower you added. The pocket that holds the story is such a great idea.

Hope you are having a great holiday weekend! Sure is nice to have an extra day off for stamping.
