Baby, You’re First Rate

Hey crafty people.  Here we are into September…amazing isn’t it?  Seems like summer just started and now it’s nearly over…just a few more weeks and the trees will begin turning lovely shades of red, oranges and brown, the temperatures will begin to drop and autumn will be in full swing.

September is also the time of year when kids go back to school and while I don’t have kids in school any longer, I still adore the new Mint Motif set, School Basics.  It’s not just for teachers, as you can see from my project below.

School-Basics-The-BestI stamped a lined paper background stamp onto white cardstock and distressed the edges.  The sentiment is stamped in white pigment ink onto the awesome Chalkstock Tile paper available from I {heart} Papers.  It is amazing paper with the properties of a real chalkboard.

With a sentiment like this, I felt a #1 award ribbon was a fun element.  I ran a piece of red cardstock through a paper crimper and then burnished the mountains and valleys and then bringing the ends of the paper strip together, I glued them onto a fan fold flower.  You can view a tutorial on how to make these fun embellishments HERE.  The “1” is a Thickers number, but since I didn’t have a Thickers “#” symbol, I just created one using cardstock.  A piece of silk ribbon finished off this project.

So that’s it…my project for today.  I hope you enjoyed it.  Do you have someone in your life that you think is the best?  I’d love to hear who that someone is…your husband, a long-time friend, your mom, your sister?  Come on, share with me.

Hi Lynn. Beautiful card - love the red! I tell my husband all the time that he's "the best man I know". We met in our mid 30's so I feel so blessed to have found him.
