With summer in full swing, it’s pretty apparent, at work anyway, that it’s officially vacation season. The empty desks, employees returning with tan faces, clad in Capri pants and other typical summer apparel is a pretty good indication that summer is the time of year to get away, enjoy yourself, relax and rejuvenate.
I haven’t been fortunate enough to away to any island paradise, but I have made a few long weekend trips that often achieve the same sort of relaxation that others get from a more desirable destination. The idea is the same…take some time, kick off your shoes and sink your toes in the sand – whatever that means to you.
The daydream of relaxing a bit was the inspiration for this card…that and I was particularly inspired by Susanna Boyd’s sketch challenge on Paper Craft Planet. If you haven’t yet tried the weekly sketch challenge group on PCP, why don’t you head on over. Perhaps you will find yourself just as inspired as I was.
I used a new set by Gina K Designs, Aloha, for the sentiment and the refreshing island flower (hibiscus) embellishment. The blingy sandals and flowered flourish are from Zva Creative. To create the faux footprints in the sand, I die cut the foot pattern from a Sizzix die and then used a VersaMark pen to create a shadow around the outside.
With the addition of the little strip of green gingham paper/cloth, the card was complete. I feel refreshed, don’t you?
Thanks for looking in today…stop back by anytime you need a break!
