As a crafter, I see the world in terms of seeking inspiration. Everywhere I look there is inspiration waiting; it’s there for the taking if you just recognize it. I recently received a mail ad from a local dress store that contained this image:
I was captivated by the fun whimsical design of this dress so I was inspired to use my paper crafting tools and see if I couldn’t recreate the design. My version is not the same, but I’m please with it, just the same.
I used the Classic Butterfly punch to punch several colors and sized from the Green at Heart Basic Grey patterned paper. Using the dress image from Gina K Designs’ Retro Boutique I glued each butterfly onto the dress topping several of them with crystal gems.
You may find it difficult to see, but I applied Pearl Glimmer Mist to the butterflies for a touch of shimmer, much like the wings of real butterflies. I finished the card by knotting up a piece of silk ribbon and attaching it across the panel, just for fun. I hope you find it as fun and whimsical as I do.
I had a great weekend, and found a crafting friend to go with me to the Creating Keepsake Convention in Collinsville, Illinois on Saturday. Man, did I ever blow my budget there. I always enjoy the vendor fairs at the CKC and find it hard to pass up the fantastic bargains offered. I came home with three new Sizzix dies, two of which are from the new Tim Holtz collection, two new EK Success border punches, a Cricut cartridge that has been on my wish list for the longest time, several new colors of Glimmer Mist as well as many other great tidbits.
I have a busy crafting week ahead of me. On Friday I’m participating in another Zva Creative blog hop which are always great fun complete with several prize packages involved. And on Sunday, the previews begin of the newest Gina K Design sets as we, the Design Team, gear up for the release party. So you can see that there are great things coming this week.
Thanks for looking in today and for spending a little piece of your day with me. Until next time, love life and enjoy each moment.
