Welcome to yet another day of Gina K Designs previews of her newest stamp releases that will happen tomorrow evening. My featured project today was created using a new set by Nina Brackett – Nana’s Needlework and Nana’s Needlework Sentiments. If you crochet, knit or sew (or know someone who does), this set is going to have you in stitches!
Once again, I ready for my Kraft cardstock, and no where is there a better Kraft cardstock than Gina’s Pure Luxury Kraft.
I started by stitching with DMC embroidery floss around a border of my card. While I don’t have a photo of the inside of my card, I attached another piece of cardstock, in the same color used for my sentiment, to cover up the “ugly” side of the stitching on the backside of my card. The new blue cardstock I used is a new color Gina is releasing on Thursday – Little Boy Blue.
I just love this doily lace image in this set because I have so many pieces similar to this that my own grandmother lovingly handcrafted…they are very dear to my heart, and I wish I had the talent that Grandma had in crocheting and sewing. She did it all “old school” and she continued to crochet and sew until she got so old she couldn’t see to do the work any longer. I’m constantly reminded of her talent every time I walk past her old (second generation Singer) sewing machine which sits in a spare bedroom now, or when I happen across her collection of crochet hooks that I keep in a handmade wooden box. I don’t even crochet, but I can’t bring myself to give them away. One of them is even made of bone or Ivory – I don’t know – but it looks to be VERY old. I guess you would say I’m pretty sentimental about items that belonged to people I love who are no longer with me.
This card is very simple, but I love the way it turned out and love the clean design. I hope you agree.
