The Destination

Each time I walk into my craft space I try my hand at creating a masculine card.  Most of these attempts you don’t see because…well frankly, I stink at it.  HA!  I guess I just don’t think in “guy” terms.  I know I’m not alone in this because I hear other crafters complain about the same thing.  It’s not that I am lacking the motivation.  If I weren’t motivated to create more masculine cards I wouldn’t keep trying.  I thought that Taylor’s latest sketch for the Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge would be a good opportunity to give it another go.

TESC105

I just received my March Taylored Expressions Key Ingredient kit and instantly wanted to use some of these yummy papers.  To see all the wonderful cardstock, patterned papers and embellishments that come in the March kit, you may take a peek HERE.  I stamped this lighthouse image from the March Unity Stampin’ Store kit.  I colored it using Copic markers in very unusual shades for a light house, but then again, you don’t often see a light house with heart shaped adornments or rays of light with hearts at the ends. *grin*.  A whimsical lighthouse called for whimsical colors.

I distressed all the edges and added stitching around the border. Using a heart punch and a fancy photo corner punch I created the cork heart and wings.  I added a layer of iridescent Smooch to give the wings sparkle.

I really like this sentiment because we often get so caught up in the daily living that we forget to enjoy the little things – those little things that make up the small moments of happiness that bring joy to life.  Those small things like the smell of coffee brewing in the morning, the wagging tale of our dog greeting me each morning and the loving arms that my husband wrap around me every day.  Those are the small bits of happiness that make life worth living.

Are you ready to begin a little adventure?  Just create a card using the above sketch as inspiration (you're not required to use TE Stamps in your sample)! Link your creation using Mr. Linky on Taylor’s blog by Friday, March 19th at 8am PST. Taylor will choose the most clever and creative cards to be included in the TESC Top Crops on her blog!

If you need a little more inspiration be sure to stop by the blogs of the rest of the Sketch Crew because they each have their own style to amaze you!
