Be it Ever so Humble

Yeah – we’ve reached yet another Friday.  This week started off cold and rainy, warming up mid-week to a beautiful 70 degrees, giving everyone a major case of spring fever.  We aren’t out of the winter “woods” yet, but I just adore these momentary glimpses of what is to come.  I just LOVE spring.

I also love participating in Taylor’s weekly Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge and why wouldn’t I, considering she sends us sketches like this one from which to work.

TESC104

Using the sketch as my spring board I changed up my project just a bit by making my card a 5-1/4” square card.  It seems like spring and summer are the most busy times of the year for moving and I myself know of two families who will be relocating over the next couple of months, so that is why I chose to make a “happy housewarming” type of card.

TESC104-No-Place-Like-Home

I chose some Cosmo Cricket paper from the Material Girl line and images from Unity’s January Stampin’ Store kit, Life is Fabulous.  I added a little trim that was paper pierced using an Ornaire paper piercing template.  Rather than cut the scallop edges with scissors, I took a 1/4” square punch and punched the corner at an angle, which made quick work of making a quick scallop edge.  Sure, the edges aren’t perfectly rounded, but I just think that adds a little whimsy and interest to the project.

TESC104-No-Place-Like-Home- To further embellish my project I added some flower buttons that I’ve had FOREVER and coupled those with a great flourish from Zva Creative in a complimentary blue.

Would you like to play along?  All you need to do is create a project using the sketch above as your inspiration.  Be sure to visit the Taylored Expressions blog and enter your card link on Mister Linky.  Taylor will choose her top ten “Top Crops” and feature them on her blog next week.  Your project could be one of those ten!

If you need a little more inspiration be sure to stop by the blogs of the rest of the Sketch Crew because they each have their own style to amaze you!

I LOVE this! I actually have a real Victorian dollhouse... I used to collect 1" scale miniatures. Well, I guess you could say I still do since I have them! So anything "dollhouse" is a favorite of mine. And i LOVE Zva!

Hugs,
Lisa
