TESC85 Season's Greetings

Wow - it's hard to believe that October is here already. Yesterday I celebrated my 3rd Blogaversary and I have some blog candy to share with you. But before we get to that, I want to share my project for the Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge this week.

Using this fun sketch from Taylor, I created another Christmas card to add to those I've already finished in an attempt to be ready for the card-sending-season BEFORE it actually gets here.

Using some great papers from Basic Grey and wonderful images and sentiment from Waltzingmouse Stamps, I was able to pull this card together by adding a few stamped and cut out holly leaves nestled along with some branch punched greenery as an embellishment for my sentiment. The sentiment was stamped into the wonderful vintage tag that I stamped onto white cardstock using Vivid Brick ink.

For the circle portion of Taylor's sketch, I cut a flower in half and placed it behind a chipboard snowflake that I had painted and then added chunky glitter. A button and a bow of cream colored linen thread finished off the embellishment.

It's always fun to check out the interpretation of the sketch from the other members of the Cupcake Crew because they each have their own style that they bring every week to their creations. I hope you will take a moment and stop by and see what they have posted to inspire you:
and of course, Taylor

Now - about that blog candy...
On October 1, 2006, I had been stamping for less than a year. My skill were very basic, but I had a huge desire to learn more. I began blogging, mainly to have a central location for me to post my projects and my processes. I didn't know if I would like blogging, but at that time everyone seemed to be jumping on the bandwagon, so I thought I would give it a try.

The blogging process has shown me what progress I have personally made in my papercrafting ability. Much of my knowledge was gained by reading the blogs of others and trying new things that stretched my abilities and pushed me in directions I may not have attempted before. The blogging process kept me motivated and actually keep me creating because once I started my blog, I felt a responsibility to keep posting to it.

I'm sorry for the poor picture, but even with the poor layout of this blog candy, I'm sure you can get a general idea. A big thank you goes out to Gina K Designs and i {heart} papers for their generous donations to this blog candy with stamps and supplies.

I hope that you will join me in the celebration of my blogaversary by posting a comment and tell me if you blog, and WHY (or why you don't) blog. By posting your reply, I'll put your name (be sure to include a way for me to contact you) into a hat to win the blog candy that I have amassed for the occasion. These items include:
  1. Retro Boutique - Donated by Gina K Designs
  2. Stickles-Rock Candy & Xmas Red
  3. Polar White Flower Soft
  4. Fired Brick Ranger Distress Ink Pad
  5. Versafine - Onyx Black
  6. Jet Black StazOn Ink Pad
  7. Scor-Tape
  8. Memento Angel Pink Ink Pad
  9. Mint-Spica Glitter Pen
  10. Christmas Clear Stamps by Studio G
  11. Sparkle Clear Mini Messages Stamps from Hero Arts
  12. Lucas the Lion & Gordie the Giraffe Stamps from the Paper Works Co.
  13. I {stick} Papers, Red Line Tape - Donated by i {heart} papers
  14. 4 Rolls Assorted Ribbon by Creative Impressions - Donated by i {heart} papers
  15. Misc. Sports Brads - Donated by i {heart} papers
  16. Lavender Square Brads by Creative Impressions - Donated by i {heart} papers
  17. Old Fashioned Teddy Bear Wood Mount Stamp from Comotion Rubber Stamps
This blog candy opportunity will only be available until Sunday, October 4th at 8:00 PM central time, when I'll select a winner at random, so don't delay if you want to be entered in the drawing.

I want to thank those of you who faithfully read my humble posts and who graciously leave little comments. They really do mean a lot to me. Knowing that you visit motivate me to do my best for you. Thanks so much for another year of fun!

Happy Blogaversary. You are truly one of my stamping heros! I have a blog but haven't kept it up because of my life situation right now. Since my husband lost his job, we sold our home and are living in our camper in a campground. So due to lack of space, I have given my stamping supplies to our daughter, so I have nothing great to share. I miss my beloved hobby but am hoping to make room to do some simple things. Thanks for this chance to win some great supplies. Keep up the fantastic work.

Happy Blogiversary!

I started blogging as a way to share my stamping creations and then it turned into a way for my friends and family to follow what happens with our family(aka my daughter) and I sneak a few of my crafting projects in there every so often. I love seeing everyone else's creations, so it's only fair to share mine.

OH LYNN! this is just the perfect Christmas card!!!! hang on, I'm just gonna push the chair back and admire it a wee while longer. respectfully omitting myself from the candy.

Happy BlogAversary :) I've admired your work for a long time. Your work is really beautiful and it's nice to watch you progress.

I don't blog may do that sometime but I spend more time creating. I also do watercolor and oil painting but have fallen in love with stamping too. :)

I used to have a art website back in the 90's and have since devoted myself to creating it's lots more fun for me than html coding *g*

Keep up the good work you are doing wonderfully :)

Hi Lynn, I have been such a happy subscriber to your blog. Congrats on the 3rd year. I do not blog because I do not feel I could keep up the commitment at this time. I am a live in caregiver for my Mom and there are days/weeks I don't get much computer time. However I do make up for it by reading lots of blogs when I can and offering comments. Have another wonderful year.

Happy Happy Happy Blogaversary! So generous of you to throw out such a wonderful blog candy for the occasion.

I do blog, and Ironically I started for what it sounds to be very close to the same reason you started. I am at home with my 2 little boys and have been stamping, crafting, etc . . . for just a little over a year and I started seeing all these wonderful blogs with absolutely wonderful arts, crafts, cards etc . . . and pondered about starting my own blog for actually quite some time but then after about 6 or 7 months of the thought, I just jumped in. I didnt know a thing about it, but I learned, well, am still learning fairly quickly. and I am 110% happy I did it. I have met some wonderful people and continue to learn how to master my craft.

Love the color combo on your card. I don't blog........just read a bunch of them everyday. I, too, have learned so much from the blogs. The blog candy looks great!

Hi Lynn and Happy Blogaversary! Until this summer I absolutely refused to get in the world of blogging - then I visited so many great blogs and realized I WANTED and HAD TO be a part of this world. I really felt like it was my next step in my stamping creativity. Plus I love the comments and feedback from my blogger friends. Now I can't imagine not having a blog. It is addictive...and a very good addiction! Thanks for sharing your talents with us!

Congrats Lynn! Funny you should mention Blogiversary! While reading this post, I just realized my own is in a few days! I started blogging about a year b/c I wanted to look back and kept track of how I've grown as a cardmaker. It's fun to see different ideas of things I've created in the past and knocks my memory if I'm stuck! =) I haven't been the best at keeping track of my blog over the year but I've vowed to keep up with it and make it more of a priority!

Thanks!

Lynn, love your card! I love the details you always put into your cards. Awesome!

Let's see...I started blogging to reach out to my customers as an independent consultant for CTMH. Then I started blog hopping for inspiration and I was amazed at the talent out there. I loved it! I feel that blogging has helped me grow as a paper crafter. I still am amazed every day at the projects made by people using paper, ribbon, stamps and embellishments. Art!

It's so interesting that you started stamping not too long ago and that you blog is a way for you to see how far you've come in a short time. I do not have a blog mostly because I do not have the time to keep it up and I also do not seem to create much too often. Maybe one day, if I quit my job and take on crafting more full time I will have a blog. Thanks for all the inspiration and the chance to win!
