I remember as a child; well, I don't actually remember, but I've seen pictures, of the very fashionable (at the time) aluminium Christmas trees. They were all the rage and they seemed to adorn just about every window, some with lights that shown on them that changed colors from red to green to blue...ooh, nothing scream the celebration of the birth of our Lord than a bright, shiny aluminium tree! HA! As I was created this card for the Try a New Technique Challenge group on SCS, all I could think about were those funny, now vintage aluminium trees.
This card uses a technique called foil embossing (or in this case aluminium). I used a Cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder to emboss my image and then highlighted parts of the snowflakes with stickles.
What snowflake card would be complete without some bling? I used a swirl flourish from Zva Creative as a base for my chipboard snowflakes.Well, off to work on a rainy Thursday, here in St. Louis. I hope your day is a great one!

What a stunning card, Lynn. I love the swirly pearls and, of course, that embossed foil.
Lynn, This is beautiful! I love the added sparkle from the sticklers and all the bling!
I love embossing with foil and also using foil for the polish stone technique.
One word--BEAUTIFUL.
Wow, Lynn! This is so pretty! We had one of those trees with the color wheel that made it change colors. Love those memories!
Ok, I do remember the first aluminum tree in our house. Mom hung it with all red ornaments and yes, we had the light under it changing it to green, red, blue and yellow. My dad still put the train under it so I guess we kept part of the Christmas tradition. I made my aluminum card with red bling, guess it stayed with me after all these years! (You'll just have to guess how many that is! LOL)
Sooooooo pretty! I love, love, love your card.
On a side note, I remember the alum. trees in the same houses that had flocks of pink flamingoes in the front yard. lol They were THE things to have in STL. Remember those? sigh memories ;-D
Gorgeous card Lynn....never would have thought of that! I see that you were instrumental in starting the St.Louis Shoebox Swap....it's still going.
Cindy
