TLC234 Leafing Pen Resist Technqiue

Hi and happy Monday, once again. Want to be a little resistant? I'd love to resist going into work today, but my husband is resistant to my resistance, so it's off to work I go! *sigh*

Before I take off, I want to share with you today's Try a New Technique on Splitcoaststamper.com. It's called the Leafing Pen Resist technique and I first saw THIS POST on Carol Sweeney's blog and was intrigued - mainly because I'm drawn to geometric shapes and designs, plus I had all the supplies, and thought I would give it a try. Once I did, I knew I had to share it with the challenge group over on Splitcoast. Carol got her idea from the very talented Trish Bee and you should see some of HER work with this technique. Phenomenal! Trish does her backgrounds with watercolors and just "washes" her backgrounds with large paint brushes.

I'm not very artistic (that's why I stamp), but I can draw squiggly lines and dots, so that's the pattern I went with, and after spritzing with Color Wash, this was the paper I ended up with. I cut it into strips and used it as a background.

After doing one background, I wanted to play some more, so I created a second background for the following project. You can really see the background in this card. I wish I had better drawing skills! But as this sentiments attests, in the wise words of Kyle, age 8, "We are all artists, even if we don't know how to draw." What a smart kid!

I used a bit of a chipboard design which I painted with crackle paint, let it dry and then sponged over it with gold to pick up the gold highlights from the background piece as well as the luxurious cardstock base which has some awesome texture of its own.

I really do see endless possibilities with this background technique and I hope you will join me and the other challenge players over on the Try a New Technique challenge today.

Until next time, have a fantastic day!
