No, it's not fall, as you probably know especially with the hot and humid temperature still making us all uncomfortable, but when it comes to papercrafters, we're always ahead of the game. We make fall and Halloween cards in August & September, Christmas cards in October, weeks before the first trick or treater rings our doorbells. So with that in mind, it's time to forget the summer heat and think of autumn.

This card definitely has that fall feel with its rich autumnal colors of orange, red and brown. You won't find any bright summer colors here today, but you will see a little basic techniques that is sometimes overlooked when stamping. I've mentioned before that the Design Team on Paper Craft Planet is focusing on Back to Basics this month and for this project, the basics I'm focusing on is using glitter - more specifically, Stickles a/k/a glitter glue. Most of us think of using Stickles in little dots, like I've added to the swirls that I stamped on the circle of acetate. But Stickles don't always need to be in dots. On each of the leaves that I stamped, I applied the Stickles by squirting a little on the tip of my finger and spreading it all over the leaves. The effect of the sparkle on the leaves adds such a nice touch to the leaves giving them a little something extra.

The acetate was cut using a Standard Circle Nestability die that I bought from i {heart} papers. Using Staz-On ink I stamped the flourish stamp onto the acetate and let it dry before I added the dots of Stickles. Using the acetate allowed me to have a base for my leaves and also allows the beauty of the patterned paper below to show through. On the sentiment, I also stamped with Staz-on Timber Brown ink, but since it was going over a busy patterned paper, I apply Coffer Acrylic Paint Dabbers on the opposite side to add some color as well as give the sentiment the illusion of floating on the splash of paint.
I hope you will find fun and interesting ways to use glitter glue aside from the traditional little dots. I'd love to see your creative ways you use Stickles so be sure to post a comment and link me to your project, whether on a fall card or on one of your last summer cards of the season!
Have a fantastic Wednesday!

What a great fall card! I like making fall cards and sending them to my daughter and friends in Hawaii - just want to remind them that seasons do exist! Thanks for the acetate idea, a technique I haven't tried.
