TLC216 Metallic Stamping

Hello - it's Monday again.  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and a very blessed Easter. After a nice three day weekend, and a busy work week ahead of me, I can't say I'm anxious to go back to work, but if I want to continue buying craft supplies, hi-ho, hi-ho, it's off to work I go!

Today's technique challenge on SCS is Metallic Stamping.  In this age of recycling hype, we are all looking for ways to reduce and reuse.  With today's technique we are focusing on the "reuse" part. All you need is a soda can and some stazon ink and you can be on your way to creating some unique card elements.  I was really surprised to learn that the material used now days to manufacture pop cans is quite thin, and easy to cut.  Being fearful that the metal once cut, would have sharp edges, but I was surprised to learn that it wasn't, although caution should always be used when handling cut metal.  To see the complete instructions for Metallic Stamping, please check out the Try a New Technique thread on Splitcoast.

To create the swirls on my card base, I punched a few times in my designer paper using my Large Flourish punch that I got from Gina K.  I love the way it looks with the card base showing through below the butterfly.

I used my butterfly wing images from Wings and Things set from Molly Stamps to stamp the image and then carefully cut out the image from the metal.  I first colored the top portion of the wings using a sharpie marker and then added glitter.  On the bottom portion of the wings I added a few geo sparkler stickers.  I created my butterfly body with a little bit of wire and a few beads from my stash.

I nestled my butterfly image atop a bow created from organdy ribbon and then finished the card off with the sentiment.

So that's it for today.  Have a great day!

Wow! That is stunning! That teal just pops against the metallic!!!

I think I still have a roll of metal tape somewhere. I'll have to dig it out and see if it works later.
